Power Energy Gulf supplies gas treatment systems to refineries, petrochemical plants, gas processing facilities and industrial plants in Saudi Arabia and the GCC, including systems from COES, an Italian manufacturer of industrial gas treatment and compressor auxiliary equipment based in Stezzano, Italy. Gas treatment removes water, contaminants and unwanted components so the gas is fit for compressors, instruments, processes or export.
What We Supply
- Air and gas dryers. Heatless, heat regenerated, closed circuit zero purge and heat of compression designs.
- Natural gas dryers. Removing water from natural gas to protect pipelines, compressors and downstream equipment.
- Nitrogen generation systems. On-site nitrogen for blanketing, purging and inerting.
- Gas filtration units. Removing particles, liquids and aerosols from process and fuel gas. See also our gas phase coalescers and filtration.
- Purification systems. Removing CO2, H2S and other components using PSA, TSA and VTSA technology.
Air and Gas Dryers
Desiccant dryers pass gas through a bed that adsorbs moisture, while a second bed is regenerated. The main designs differ in how they regenerate:
- Heatless dryers use a portion of the dried gas to regenerate the bed. They are simple and reliable, but use more gas.
- Heat regenerated dryers use a heater or blower to regenerate, so they waste much less dried gas.
- Heat of compression dryers use the heat of the compressor discharge, with little or no purge gas.
- Closed circuit zero purge dryers regenerate the bed in a closed loop, so no dried gas is lost.
Read our guide to heatless vs heat regenerated desiccant dryers.
Gas Purification: PSA, TSA and VTSA
Pressure swing adsorption (PSA), temperature swing adsorption (TSA) and vacuum temperature swing adsorption (VTSA) systems remove contaminants such as CO2 and H2S by adsorbing them on a bed, then regenerating the bed in a cycle. The right technology depends on the contaminant, its concentration, the pressure and the required outlet purity. See PSA, TSA and VTSA explained.
Hydrogen and Biogas Treatment
The same technologies are used in hydrogen and biogas projects: dryers, deoxo units and purification units for hydrogen and carbon dioxide, and pre-treatment, upgrading, conditioning and filtration for biogas.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a gas treatment system?
A gas treatment system conditions a gas by removing water, particles, liquids or unwanted components such as CO2 and H2S, so the gas can be used safely in a compressor, instrument system or process.
What is the difference between a heatless and a heat regenerated dryer?
Both are desiccant dryers. A heatless dryer regenerates the bed with a portion of the dried gas, so it uses more gas. A heat regenerated dryer uses a heater or blower, so it uses much less dried gas but is more complex.
What is a heat of compression dryer?
A heat of compression dryer uses the heat from the compressor discharge to regenerate the desiccant. It needs little or no purge gas and little extra energy, and suits compressors with a hot discharge.
What do PSA, TSA and VTSA mean?
They are adsorption cycles. PSA is pressure swing adsorption, TSA is temperature swing adsorption, and VTSA adds vacuum to the temperature swing. They are used to remove contaminants such as CO2, H2S and moisture from gas.
